Monthly Luncheon Meetings: This is the principal activity of the Chapter and the meetings are designed both to inform members of local achievement in the engineering management field, and to allow members the opportunity to network and discuss items of common concern. The membership is drawn from the Edmonton engineering community and the mailing list includes most of the major consulting organizations, TELUS Communications, Stentor Canada, Canadian Utilities, Northwestern Utilities, the City and Provincial Departments, the University of Alberta, and several major construction firms.

The Engineering Management Journal: The official journal of the American Society for Engineering Management, The Society for Engineering Management Australia, and the Canadian Society for Engineering Management. A high quality technical journal which speaks to the state of the art of engineering management. Deliberately written in a non-academic style, the Journal goes beyond the popular press articles to provide in depth treatment of topics such as Total Quality Management, developments in Project Management, Peer Appraisal, Engineering Productivity, Managing Innovation and Strategic Management.

Seminars and Short Courses: Because of the affiliation of CSEM with the ASEM and the SEMA it is possible to attend and participate in international forums and conferences on engineering management.

Distinguished Speakers: The Chapter has cooperated with the University of Alberta Poole Chair of Engineering Management in sponsoring the annual Eminent Speaker Series. Past speakers have been: Dr. Margaret Maxey (1991), Dr. Lester Thurow (1992), and Mr. Peter Behrendt (1993).

Program

We are also continuing to offer Members and Season Ticket holders an optional subscription to the Engineering Management Journal. This quarterly journal addresses the latest issues and publications in the field of Engineering Management. It will be mailed directly to subscribers

The Edmonton Branch of the CSEM is a registered non-profit organization and is operated completely on a voluntary basis. There are open opportunities for any member in good standing to participate as part of the executive and assist in contributing to program or seminar development and in the general operation of the organization.
